PUBLIC NOTICE
NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

The Clayton County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 2.58 percent for Clayton County M&O and 17.95 percent for the Clayton County Fire District.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Clayton County Board of Commissioners’ Boardroom, located at 112 Smith Street, Jonesboro, Georgia, on July 15, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.

Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at the Clayton County Board of Commissioners’ Boardroom, located at 112 Smith Street, Jonesboro, Georgia on July 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 14.869 mills for Clayton County M&O, an increase of .374 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 14.495 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $75,000 is approximately $7.48 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $400,000 is approximately $59.84.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 5.0 mills for the Clayton County Fire District, an increase of .761 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 4.239 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of
$75,000 is approximately $15.22 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $400,000 is approximately $121.76.
