MISSION STATEMENT

The Clerk of the State Court is committed to providing innovative service in a manner that is courteous, responsive, and efficient.  We require a high standard of performance and commitment to excellence from employees of the State Court Clerk’s Office in order to provide the highest level of service to the citizens of Clayton County, the Judiciary and the legal community.  In facing the confines of limited resources, an ever-increasing emphasis will be given to new innovative technologies which will enable staff to “work smarter, not harder” to perform in a more cost-effective manner.

Administrator of Court Records
Any and all documents presented for filing in a State Court case must be received, processed, secured and purged in accordance with certain statutory time constraints, archival and retention schedule standards and requirements. In this role the Clerk identifies the changing needs of various records management programs to ensure that the interest of the courts and the public are secured.

The Clerk’s office also provides administrative support for judicial operations of the Court.

Fiduciary/Financial Officer of the Court
As the court's fiduciary officer, the Clerk collects, records, and disburses all statutory fees, fines, reimbursements, restitution and public registry funds, as ordered by the court; utilizing innovative systems and technologies whenever feasible. This flow of funds is accomplished only through court order and statutory authorization.

The State Court currently has five (5) elected Judges, an elected Solicitor General and an appointed Clerk who serves at the pleasure of the State Court Judges.
The Clerk's Office is divided into divisions which enable each one to achieve more efficiency. The divisions are Civil, Criminal, Traffic, and Microfilm.

TERM OF COURT - First Monday in February, May, August and November.
