JONESBORO - Let the party begin!
Clayton County Public Schools is joining with the county's
business and civic leaders to throw a community party celebrating
the lifting of probation by the leadership of the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
The Gerald Matthews Soccer Complex in Lovejoy will host the
event scheduled for Saturday, July 30, 2011. The fun will begin at
3 p.m. and will continue until 7 p.m.
"All of Clayton County was affected by the loss of
accreditation," said Dr. Stefanie Phillips, CCPS Deputy
Superintendent. "The lifting of the probation was accomplished in
continuous collaboration with the entire Clayton County community
and would not have been possible without our partners."
"Our hope is that the entire community can attend and enjoy a
celebration worthy of our achievement," Phillips added.
Initial plans call for multiple stages featuring the talents of
CCPS students and CCPS staff, as well as community performers. An
assortment of games, activities, and foods are being included. In
an effort to keep this event free to the public, donations are
being sought.
For more information or to make a donation to support the
celebration, contact Rhonda Burnough, CCPS Community Relations
Liaison, at 770-473-2760 or rburnough@clayton.k12.ga.us.
